Former NBA star Paul Pierce said he's "tapped out" financially after losing his job with Fox Sports. The athlete also said he's struggled to keep up with court-ordered payments to his ex-wife and his children.

Paul Pierce has been in the headlines for the last year. Beyond his public dealings with his ex, the NBA champion faced pushback in October 2025 after he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

A source told TMZ that Pierce is "tapped out" and can no longer afford his hefty monthly payments to his ex-wife and children.

Court documents claim Pierce used to receive $119,000 a month from Fox Sports; however, he received his last check in August, and now his monthly income is zero.

Paul said he pays close to $30,000 per month in child support and another $20,000 per month in spousal support.

Additionally, Pierce spends nearly $50,000 a month in bills, including close to $10,000 in childcare, $5,000 in groceries, $7,000 on eating out, $3,200 on utilities, $1,000 on clothes, $3,500 on entertainment, and "various other expenses."

He also made almost $200m in career earnings

Yeah, he made a lot, but he also needed to spend all of it.

It's part of being a professional athlete that you are contractually obligated to waste all of your money on stupid bullshit in order to flaunt your wealth.

It's why Tyrese Haliburton needs to start flying private before he gets sued for not fulfilling his money-wasting obligations.

Windhorst had a story on his podcast the other day about Hali buying stuff on Facebook Marketplace / eBay then showing up in person to pick it up. Seems determined not to waste his money. Or at least to waste less of it.

Better not be showing up with less cash than the price

"Hey, man, I thought I had 3 twenties but it turns out it was only 2 twenties, and I need to get $10 worth of gas to get home. I know we said $60, but I can offer you $30 cash right now but make your decision quick, cause I got to get home quick to my sick kid. It's my kid's 8th birthday today and I promised him I'd get him this. C'mon man, help a dad out."

"This is an adult sized pitching wedge worth over $100 that we agreed you'd pay $60 for."

"Well all I got is this twenty five dollars now. Do you want to sell it or not?"

"You just had thirty dollars a couple seconds ago."

I tried to sell a Nintendo 64 game on Facebook before Marketplace was a thing and the dude showed up and offered me less than we agreed because "I thought it was a different game." I asked him if he was fuckin stupid because the photos and description were clear as day and then he got pissed so I left.

I'm already here, we don't need to make this weird. You're really worried about that $20?

Rob Gronkowski had the right idea. During his playing career, he lived off of the money he earned from endorsements and saved everything he earned in his NFL salary.
