“You needed help!” Yeah man, everyone does, it’s a team sport.

Barkley clearly needed more help since he didn't win. He makes such bad arguments that won't survive long-term.

Chuck had help and still didn't win. The 85-86 Sixers had 6 HoF'ers on it: Dr J, Moses Malone, Chuck, Mo Cheeks, Bobby Jones, and Bob McAdoo
Dr J, Bobby Jones, and McAdoo were getting old at that point, but that is still a very good team

Talk about him then going to Houston to build a super team and he was so out of shape that he couldn’t move. Scottie still dislikes him because of that

He tried to build a superteam with Drexler here too, before he went to Phoenix. Flew himself to Portland to tell our GM "y'all need me in the post if you want to win, these are the guys you should trade for me." Sometimes I wonder what would've happened if we took him up on it.

And if Andrew Toney has a full career he’s prob hof too. He got to Philly 2 years removed from a title. He just wasn’t in good enough shape to be a high impact player early.
Similar to Houston, he went there 2 years removed from a title but was fat n outta shape

You're thinking of 1999. Chuck went to Houston in 1996. Rockets lost to the Stockton buzzer beater 3 in game 6 of the WCF in 97. Chuck was 35 by 1999 and Hakeem 36. It wasn't a superteam.

I could have explained it with more detail but I’m more referencing the fact that he moved multiple times to try and win, and yet he had plenty of flaws himself.
Lebron is 42 years old running fast breaks compared to Charles essentially eating himself out of the league at 36 . He shouldn’t talk about these guys who are more disciplined and dedicated to the game than him

'Getting old' McAdoo played 29 games and retired to Italy at the end of the season. Bobby Jones averaged 7 points a game and retired at the end of the season. Dr. J retired the next season.
Not to mention, that was Chuck's second year in the league

What a misleading statement. Moses Malone got hurt, Bob McAdoo was old and got hurt, and it was the final season for Dr J and Bobby Jones

Not to mention the Celtics had HOFers too

To be fair they had to compete with 2 of the greatest dynasties....Showtime and Bird
13. u/livefreeordont · 2026-10-23 15:25 UTC
They may have given the Celtics a fight if Moses didn’t miss the whole playoffs

Man I was expecting to click on this and hear Shaq being increasongly petty... it was Chuck this time

If it’s something to hate on Lebron you can bet chuck will be on the hating side

It's embarrassing especially when you look at the arguments Barkley keeps making. Take the whole "stacked teams" argument as an example. Nearly every championship team in NBA history has been "stacked". The only exceptions that come to mind are Dirks Mavs and the early 2000s Pistons, and even those teams were extremely good. Jordan Bulls were no different. Pippen was playing on an MLE type salary which gave the Bulls tremendous flexibility to build those championship rosters. It's well documented how severely underpaid Pippen was. Imagine If Pippen was paid at market value then let's see what kind of roster they could have assembled around Jordan. The point is that championship teams are almost always loaded with talent, which makes Barkley's argument ridiculous. If anything it just exposes his bias as a Jordan defender. He's practically the poster boy for the older generation that feels compelled to protect Jordans legacy at all costs
And it's always the same three tired arguments. Rings, stacked teams, and "killer mentality." These are some of the weakest arguments imaginable. At this point it's just embarrassing and cringy watching these guys defend Jordan.

It's been chuck consistently for the past half decade at least. Guy used to be great but now he just seems like a bitter old man more often than not.
18. u/Typhoon556 · 2026-10-23 15:53 UTC
I think the constant reminders that he never won a ring just continue to eat at him.
19. u/RickySuela · 2026-10-23 18:30 UTC
He's probably underrated now in how people remember him as a player, in large part because he never won a title. Karl Malone too, for the same reason, but he's a POS so I'm OK with that.

I miss the "I am not a role model" Chuck
