Britt McHenry, a State Department press adviser who previously worked for ESPN and Fox News Media, appeared to throw beer at a fan during an NBA game Wednesday.
TMZ obtained video of the incident at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., where the Washington Wizards were playing the Milwaukee Bucks.
In the clip, McHenry can be seen picking up a beverage and flipping it toward a fan behind her as others yell, “Whoa.” She then walks away as some of the crowd pelts her with what appear to be towels and other debris. She blows kisses as she walks up the stairs.
The clip cuts to McHenry, still in her seat, as an arena staffer addresses her and then calls in an apparent higher-up. Later, McHenry is seen talking to a security guard in the arena lobby. “What did I do?” she asks as he points to the exit. She eventually leaves.
Citing a source “close to the situation,” Page Six reported that McHenry took umbrage with hecklers’ insults about model Winnie Harlow , who is engaged to Bucks player Kyle Kuzma . She allegedly told one fan to “ease up,” prompting that person to throw a drink on her, according to the article.
TMZ’s sources said , “The group behind them were saying inappropriate and misogynistic things to Britt to instigate her.”
McHenry announced her new role in Trump’s State Department in September.
She appears to have deleted her X account.
