That kid is going to absolutely hate basketball by the time he's ten

World’s biggest Nets superfan origin story

9. u/Cashneto · 2026-10-22 17:16 UTC

Nah, he has no choice now. Plus going from being a Knicks fan to a Nets fan? Just no, no you can't make me do it!!! I won't do it!!!!

The only bad thing about the name is the K. He'll probably drop it when gets older.

12. u/foofighter1351 · 2026-10-22 16:57 UTC

The name is Knicks in 5 the only issue the K? They turned a child's name into shitty word play I think there's bigger issues

13. u/suboptimaltraffic · 2026-10-22 17:12 UTC

The Fyve is the middle name and nobody cares about those. The name Nickson could be considered like Jackson and would be defensible. Even if it was spelled Nixon it wouldn’t be that uncommon even tho it’s typically a last name. But including the K makes it inherently tied to the Knicks which is just stupid

14. u/foofighter1351 · 2026-10-22 17:16 UTC

I guess. I mean I'd argue as a parent it seems inherently shitty to take a child's name and play puns with it for the sports team you like, the rest is just overthinking it to me they named their child, a human being, Knicks in 5.

I completely agree I’m just saying there was a way to do this that wasn’t so egregious

16. u/SwmpySouthpw · 2026-10-22 17:18 UTC

Yeah maybe I've seen too many atrocious baby names, but this one doesn't seem that bad. I imagine he'd just go by Nick

17. u/AquaStarRedHeart · 2026-10-22 17:26 UTC

Every teacher will have to clarify it at the beginning of every school year

18. u/menace313 · 2026-10-22 17:50 UTC

Really? It's not even that weird of a first name and who gives a damn about a middle name. Of all the weird and stupid names I've heard, this is like a 2 out of 10 for stupid.

19. u/AutographedSnorkel · 2026-10-22 17:37 UTC

He's going to root for the Nets just to spite his parents

20. u/beefpattywagon · 2026-10-22 16:40 UTC

Feel like this is a little too far, a middle name is whatever, but the full name is crazy
