The Washington Wizards opened up their season with a win against the Milwaukee Bucks, and they did it without their No. 1 draft pick. AJ Dybantsa was ruled out with an ankle injury, and his latest injury update shows that he will have to continue to wait to make his NBA debut.

"AJ Dybantsa (ankle) has been ruled OUT for Friday's matchup between Wizards-Raptors, the team has announced," ClutchPoints wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Dybantsa suffered the ankle injury in the final preseason game against the New Orleans Pelicans after landing awkwardly on Zion Williamson while taking a jump shot.

The Wizards have continued to say that the injury isn't serious, which is good news. It's safe to be cautious early in the season, and the Wizards have the depth to fill his void. He should be able to make his debut sooner rather than later, and his teammates are going to be ready to have him on the floor.

Before the start of the season, Trae Young spoke highly of the rookie and what he's seen from him so far.

"AJ, he's one of one for sure. He's definitely confident in himself, but he has all the reason to. The work he puts in and what he does on the court, sometimes it's crazy to even think about," Young said. "You wouldn't even think a player can get from one point to the next as fast as he can. He's so athletic and can score at all levels. He's a very smart player, a cerebral player. He's gonna have such a long and amazing career. He's gonna be one of the future faces of the league for sure for a long time coming, and I'm happy he's a part of my team."
