If SGA had this statline it would have 50,000 upvotes, so it's only fair that I upvote this thread as well.

I think Wemby has a legitimate claim to be the best player in the world and won’t overreact to 1 game.

However, his offense has always just been good not great

He still needs to take another large leap offensively to truly reach his potential

Wemby’s half court offense will always be inherently limited due to his height, high dribble that can be picked off easier so he can’t self create as well compared to smaller players, and high center of gravity

He’s a good shooter and good touch but not generational in either imo(think Shaq or KD efficiency wise)

He's unquestionably the best defender in the world but he has no go to scoring move and that can be exploited

Dude really needs a basic hook shot

6. u/TopHatTony11 · 2026-10-21 03:17 UTC

I’d rather he not.

Run at rim -> throw ball at rim -> tap offensive rebound to himself -> dunk

8. u/MySilverBurrito · 2026-10-21 03:41 UTC

Need to give KD 15% of his check to teach him the hesi pull up jumper

9. u/BlankVoid2979 · 2026-10-21 03:32 UTC

bs excuse, he's not the first center in the nba. all the other all time greats just have a elite post game for when the game slows down.

wemby is just open 3s and lob merchant and cant do anything else.

Couldn’t agree more

If Wemby wants to shoot jumpers, then he’s got eventually want to be Kevin Durant, except he’s never had that pedigree.

Unless and until he finds a way of being able to take over games offensively, the idea of an MVP candidate based on defence alone (no matter elite it is) is a wild NBA breaking assertion.

It’s almost like he’s just 7’6 and isn’t actually that talented

12. u/Progenitor3 · 2026-10-21 05:33 UTC

This is the truth.

13. u/enokha · 2026-10-21 12:40 UTC

wtf I understand not being not so hyped on him offensively but he genuinely does things at 7'6 that is talent??

14. u/Dull_Job_6372 · 2026-10-21 03:05 UTC

He’s not a particularly good passer either is he?

15. u/tMeepo · 2026-10-21 05:30 UTC

I blame that on the guards, or the offensive system. He can't pass if nobody cuts or moves when he gets the ball. Look at every possession when wemby gets the ball at the top. 4 guys standing at the 3pt line, just watching the show.

If you look at jokic or even KAT at the 3. Many off-ball actions are taking place, resulting in backdoor cuts, open 3s. You can't make a nice pass when there is no nice pass to be made..

16. u/AbsoluteGarbaj · 2026-10-21 03:04 UTC

He’s the biggest big man that wouldnt play big.

17. u/Kdot32 · 2026-10-21 06:54 UTC

Because he’s a long man not a big man

18. u/Lopsided_Ad3341 · 2026-10-21 03:04 UTC

Everyone says I'm crazy for saying this but

I've thought for a while Victor isn't a #1 option offensively. Atleast not yet. I though the finals proved that

He's the best defensive player I've ever seen, and a great #2 offensively, but he needs his Kobe

I think it's Harper who can be the true #1 but this lineup is clunky, gotta send Fox to 6th man

19. u/Jarxzz · 2026-10-21 03:06 UTC

It’s probably a fair take. I think Wemby can or eventually can be the best offensive player on a championship team but he undoubtedly needs a ball handler next to him who is elite.

He’ll never be able to be a Shai/Luka/Lebron type player who can handle the ball at the top of the key and just spam PnR or run the offense

20. u/Lopsided_Ad3341 · 2026-10-21 03:18 UTC

ya in the finals he kept getting the ball so far out towards the perimeter and they'd ask him to create from there

Reminded me a little bit of Giannis when people realized his limitations and that he needs a shot creator to play with
