Everyone claimed he was joking and downvoted everyone saying he is serious two days ago.

It was funny people were saying shit like "Serbian humor". I have no doubt Serbians have a dry witty humor. I also have no doubt Jokic seemed upset.

"Redditors vs basic sarcasm, a never ending fight" most upvoted comment there. Watching that video from 2 days ago, it was nothing like sarcasm. Lol

which makes the statement still valid. did we just discover a universal truth

reddit users need "/s" to know it's sarcasm. they are that bad at detecting it.

Often, yes, people can be quite bad at recognizing obvious jokes. There's also a lot of terrible ideas and takes online, so I can forgive someone who wasn't sure if someone was trolling. Especially when you realize even some of the people making sarcasm don't really understand how it works, because you'll look at what they call sarcasm and see.. theres no joke being made, no punchline, no attempt at humor, nothing. So those people just expect someone to be clairvoyant and guess this stranger is not being genuine about their shitty opinion in a sea of shitty opinions.

especially since he literally doubled down in that same postgame lol
i know that when i say something in jest, i definitely emphasize it and repeat it multiple times with a straight face just to make sure everyone is 100% clear i'm being sarcastic and has no reason or grounds to take it seriously

I am Serbian and the first thing I thought was “welcome to Serbian spite”

There’s a weird obsession with believing he’s a super fun laid back guy that doesn’t even like basketball. There’s a pretty long track record of that not really being true when things aren’t going his way

I get seeing comments like that on Facebook or Instagram, the whole “haha he just cares about horses” but in game threads on here I don’t know how anyone can think that. So many times his yelling at his team mates, himself or the ref. He was also the best player in the league for a couple years, how would he not care.

People do it to as a way to say how much better he is than everyone else
Like "lol he doesn't even like the sport and he's the best haha"
He both loves the sport, and also hasn't been the clear best player for like 2 seasons now

Also it can be true that he loves playing the game and hates the media circus, that's been true for plenty of guys past and present. It doesn't have to be this binary thing either
14. u/ctruvu · 2026-10-27 12:05 UTC
has an argument that he’s been the best for the past 6 years. no one who doesn’t care does that
15. u/DeathsIntent96 · 2026-10-27 12:13 UTC
Yeah this is the part that's baffling to me. How can anyone think that someone could become the best in the world at something as competitive as basketball without truly caring about? It's so detached from the reality of how gargantuan that task is.

Same thing with Iverson, people talk about the practice thing like he doesn’t practice as if he shoots a couple shots in the backyard.

He got into a fight with Jaden McDaniels last year cause he was salty he was losing I didn't forget
18. u/prankgym · 2026-10-27 11:19 UTC
Fight with Booker and the Suns that one year. He a bit of a crash-out when losing but I like it, i like when players show they care haha

Or that one time he took out a Morris twin for a whole season with a spinal injury

lol I remember when he threw the ball at that player.
