Miller purchased 500 tickets against the Wizards for breast cancer awareness night because his mother is a breast cancer survivor.

“I was really going to do more, a lot more than that,” he said — and then went out and put on a show. By tossing in a career-best 39 points, hitting the game-clinching bucket and leaving his imprints all over Charlotte’s 110-103 victory at Spectrum Center, Miller couldn’t have scripted it any better.

Doing that, then putting up 39 is pretty sick ngl

Sounds like he should buy 1,000 tickets for breast cancer survivors at every game then!

And saying "I was gonna do more"

Dawg that is so much more than most people would ever think to do. W Brandon Miller.

Aside from the incident, maybe.

When you look at the details of that situation it really does seem like he got caught up in a wrong place wrong time kind of situation. He was DDing for his older teammates who got harassed by some dude at a bar, and he let his teammate store his gun in his car and then went and picked them up when he was asked. ITs not clear who shot at who first but its just incredibly sad that two drunk dudes ideas of masculinity got an innocent woman shot.

He is incredibly lucky he didnt lose his life that night and has said it changed him and made him be much more aware of the situations he puts himself on. He had bullet holes in his car and the police said the dashboard cam exonerated him.

Horrible situation especially since the victim wasnt even one of the shooters.

I don’t even think it was his car. I’m pretty sure he was driving the teammate’s car, right?

So Miller didn’t let his teammate keep his gun in Miller’s car. The teammate literally just stored the gun in his own car.

and he let his teammate store his gun in his car and then went and picked them up when he was asked.

This is absolutely not a "wrong place, wrong time" situation, and people need to stop repeating that. It was clearly a tragic mistake and he shouldn't have allowed the gun in his car or picked up the teammate.

It sounds like he's acknowledged that he fucked up, so we don't need to pretend he didn't. He's learned from it and everyone around him says he's a great guy who obviously does great stuff like the post.

Edit: Nate Oats himself apologized for saying Miller was in the "wrong place at the wrong time." If he can acknowledge that's not accurate, then so can we.

You can assign some culpability if you want, but the club didnt allow guns, people have a legal right to carry guns, and Miller has a legal obligation to return the gun if asked for it back especially considering the gun owner rightfully felt threatened. If it was Millers gun its a completely different case, but its not.

Guns outnumber people in America, and while that is a huge problem, its also just reality. You can argue he should have given his teammate an after school special lecture if you want, but I dont think that is acknowledging the reality of the situation. Miller is very far down the list of peoples whose fault this was.

Nate Oats even apologized and said he shouldn't have said Miller was just in "the wrong place at the wrong time."

(Nate Oats also had to later apologize because Brandon's introduction at games included having a teammate do a pat down, which is pretty gross.)

Miller is very far down the list of peoples whose fault this was.

No shit. No one is saying he's more at fault than the shooter.

But you really don't think he could or should have done anything differently? Every choice he made that night was the right one...?

Doing this on a first Rookie contract means like 100 times more than some elite player who have earned a gazillion bucks

Not trying to take anything away from the gesture, as I think this is genuinely amazing, but he just signed a 200m extension.

15. u/fuzzythinker · 2026-10-27 17:36 UTC

Oh, missed that. Ok, means just 50x more than elites then ;)

There’s a little kid in Alabama without a mother right now that thinks Brandon Miller is still trash.

But who supplied the gun???
