[Charania] The Charlotte Hornets on Feb. 11 are retiring the No. 1 jersey of Muggsy Bogues, the shortest player in NBA history at 5-foot-3. Bogues spent 10 of his 14 NBA seasons in Charlotte (1988-1998) and is the franchise leader in assists, steals and minutes.

Long overdue. He overcame one of the biggest challenges of all for the NBA and had a hell of a career.

Yup, only a handful of players managed to recover from having their talent stolen, it's weird it's not talked about more

Justice for the Monstars, did anyone ever test Michael’s Secret Stuff for PEDs?

They gambled on it but MJ took that personally

Yeah, every time I see a Hornet wearing 1, it takes me a second to realize it's not retired.

Wasn’t Lamelo wearing one that whole time???

He wore 2 his rookie year because Malik Monk had number 1

Shit, I thought he was 2, because I remember thinking about Larry Johnson. I'm dumb.

As they should. To do what he did at 5'3 is borderline goat material

Inch for inch best NBA player?

I'd say Allen Iverson, but you can easily make an argument for Muggsy Bogues.

For reference, Iverson is 9 inches taller than Bogues (AI is listed at 6ft)

Allen iverson is like 5,10 max
18. u/Kdog122025 · 2026-10-27 18:43 UTC
Yeah 5’10 or so for sure. Still a hell of a lot taller than Muggsy though.

I know there is a lot of controversy around some NBA height measurements, but I'm just going off the official height listed on basketball reference. Idk if that's with or without shoes or what, but someone measured him at 6ft at some point in his career.

If we’re really trying to be as accurate as possible, using the NBA’s measurements is not a great way to go about it lol
