‘Legalized Bank Robbery,’ ‘Time To Hang It Up’ – NBA World Reacts to Raptors Star Kawhi Leonard’s Co

Toronto Raptors forward Kawhi Leonard is expected to miss weeks with swelling in his left knee, ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania reported Tuesday. The news came after the Finals MVP's return to Toronto, and it drew pointed reactions about his durability and the price the Raptors paid to bring him back.
It also hangs over a date on the calendar. Toronto visits the LA Clippers at Intuit Dome next Monday, its first trip to that arena since the Leonard trade.
Leonard scored 23 points in 24 minutes of a 135-92 rout of the Chicago Bulls on Oct. 21. Two nights later, he had 16 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals in 28 minutes of a 112-102 win over the Washington Wizards.
The 35-year-old then sat out Sunday's 117-94 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, listed as not playing because of left knee swelling. Ja'Kobe Walter moved into the starting lineup and scored 22 points, but Toronto shot 38.5% from the field in its first loss of the season.
Charania's report laid out what the scan found and how both sides plan to use the time. "MRI on Leonard's knee showed no structural damage, but sides will use the shorter term to ramp him back up after the stoppages during the offseason," he wrote on X.
Content creator Ahmed kept his verdict to five words: "Kawhi Leonard, legalized bank robbery."
One fan went a step further, calling for Leonard to retire. "Might be time to hang it up."
The seven-time All-Star and two-time Defensive Player of the Year has 14 NBA seasons behind him, but he is also coming off the best scoring year of his career. He averaged a career-high 27.9 points over 65 games with the Clippers last season, his seventh straight season averaging at least 20.

To get him, the Raptors sent Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, first-round picks in 2031 and 2033, second-round picks in 2030 and 2033, and a 2027 first-round pick swap to the Clippers.
Another fan zeroed in on that cost: "Toronto sold their souls for a dude that ain't coming back until May."
Nothing in Charania's report points to an absence anywhere near that long.

Another content creator looked past Toronto entirely : "NBA injuries have been crazy to start off the year."
A Los Angeles native, Leonard played for the Clippers from 2019 until the trade. Clippers writer Justin Russo turned to the schedule: "Kawhi Leonard will miss his first game back at Intuit Dome since being traded by the Clippers."
Before the trip west, the Raptors host the Orlando Magic on Wednesday and Friday. They visit the Los Angeles Lakers on Nov. 1, then play the Clippers on Nov. 2, the second night of a back-to-back.
