The NBA is formally stepping into the prediction markets ecosystem.
The league announced agreements Monday morning with Kalshi and Polymarket that will allow the companies to use official league data and intellectual property and give the league control over what trades the companies are allowed to offer.

That’s insane.

The officiating is shit and the league is trying its best to lose all relevance

NFL: hold my beer.

The NFL is more popular than ever lol

Yes that's kinda the point? For all the supposed bitching about reffing or w/e these leagues are doing great. They're not losing relevance at all.

It genuinely feels like the NBA is. Anecdotal of course, but I play fantasy football with some old friends and the group chat used to be about sports in general. Golf, hockey, basketball, everything. But basically everyone has given up on basketball in the group. It just doesn’t feel exciting and that entertaining anymore.

So they are being open about their corruption now. I’m not surprised, always felt like it was the most corrupt league

The league basically smashed a red-hot branding iron on their head that says “unreliable”. Their credibility (whatever was left of it) as an honest, impartial league has been completely wiped.

Easily the most corrupt league. I know it sounds like sour grapes, but the Rockets-Warriors game 7 disgusted me, and I haven’t been as invested since. No one will listen since it’s easier to just dunk on the Rockets, but please rewatch that game and listen to the commentary, we got robbed on TV.

Tim donaghy admitted in court he rigged games for the dynasty spurs and literally no one cares lol

Is it? Mainstream news outlets reference it as part of their programming on electoral odds. Like we are so so cooked. It's going to take decades to unwind this shit like smoking

We could at least point to pretty empirical evidence that smoking was bad, and those profiting from it were relatively limited. These prediction markets have penetrated every angle of society so that people at the top in any industry can profit. This shit is beyond screwed more than smoking was.

There is definitely enough empirical evidence who is most susceptible to engaging in gambling and the effects of gambling. Gambling isn't new. It's just being normalized to children and everyday people

The people that have the power to help with that see gambling addicts and go “they deserve to lose their money”. This shit is going to get so much worse.

Key word yet.
NFL already has a partnership with draftkings. Id argue a major sports company partnering official with a gambling company isnt that much better

Just say you don't watch baseball.
19. u/SiphenPrax · 2026-10-26 14:29 UTC
Yeah the individual teams have already partnered with them
I think the Mets were the first one and I was so disgusted as a Mets fan.

Literally the only correct thing they said was that the NFL hasn't done it yet lol.
